Site Specific

For this project I really want to have something sort of hidden, or private even. I was thinking about a cupboard or in between the book shelf’s, maybe on the shelf. I’ve not decide what I’m doing yet or even what type of art, still at the starting point really. Its such an open brief I don’t know where to begin! All the artists I’ve looked at so far have made quite big site specific work, apart from one but I’m not even entirely sure if her work would be counted as site specific? Sarah Sze.

This is just a tester of how the large piece of material will look, it’s only been to one location. I quite like the idea of natural elements making the marks on my work, I’m just kinda helping. This isn’t the material I want to use, I’m going to use calico as its a natural material and will hold marks better due to the fibers.

I’ve decided to go with the natural world brief. When I first started thinking about it I wanted to do locations sculptures with natural found objects but as its started to develop I quite like the idea of a 2D piece or pieces. I’m going to visit 7 places and take one piece of material with me (this will be taken from place to place) and a smaller piece of material specifically for that location. I intend to make marks on both sheets of calico but on the larger bit im going to bury it, hoping it will make some interesting marks! I’ve been looking at Christo and jeanne-Claude aswell, so im going to try and cover/wrap certain areas at every location, kind of to protect or preserve nature.

Tracing paper

I think this is the way I’m going to present it. The tracing paper captures the image well, iv still got to play around with the composition of the sculptures just to see where the image will reflect. The tracing paper isn’t clear so creates shadow and blocks out some of the background but you can still see through it which is what I wanted.

Projection

Woo got this to work! This is what’s going to be projected on to my glass sculptures, I tried different text from articles and images of celebrities but this one was the most successful. I think this piece is what im going to present on wed.

Life Drawing

A couple of ink drawings on material I did on tuesday. One of them didn’t really work but I could maybe work on top of it so you can atleast tell its a person!
